Using Respectful Entry When Conducting Search and Rescue

This seminar is to show how to properly use Respectful Entry Tools when conducting Search and Rescue after Natural Disasters. Respectful Entry can be quicker than traditional forcible entry and can help secure the property after the search of the dwelling is complete. This helps prevent looting and allows residents to return to their homes quicker and safer.

About Bill Walters

Bill Walters started off as a Volunteer Firefighter in Massapequa N Y in March of 2001. After the events of 9/11 he knew that he wanted to become an FDNY Firefighter. Bill became an FDNY Firefighter in December of 2004 and was assigned to Ladder 163 in Woodside Queens. In 2013 Bill transferred to Squad 288 and went through various FEMA and Special Operations training including Advanced High Angle, Advanced Firefighter Removal, Swiftwater, Rescue School and Live Agent. Bill was then promoted to Lieutenant in 2014 and assigned to Ladder 125. From 2010 until retirement in 2022, Lt Walters was assigned to the FDNY Incident Management Team and was also assigned to the Southwest Area Type 1 IMT. On these 2 teams, he went on many wildfires and natural disasters including the Yarnell Hill Fire in Arizona, Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and Hurricane Harvey in Texas.
